Member ServicesAs a GP oganisation, the primary focus is to support GPs. Under this program, General Practice Network NT (GPNNT) will provide many of the key services required by GPs to be an effective and proactive partner in the delivery of primary health care services across the top end of the NT. This includes the provision and coordination of Continuing Professional Development based on identified GP needs, assisting GPs to engage in professional exchange with their peers to achieve quality improvement. The Division will actively support GPs to engage in local Chapter and Practice Principals' networks to address pertinent issues such as urban and rural/remote models of practice management, corporatisation, new Commonwealth financial incentives, and information management and data. GPs in the Top End require more adequate access to urban locum support services. Similarly, rural/remote GP access to short-term locums (for GPs outside the eligibility criteria of the NT Remote Health Workforce Agency). We will also continue to provide access for rural/remote GPs to workforce support funding to assist with GP retention and support for their families. The Division is also keen to provide further support to GPs towards increased awareness of and opportunity to attain practice accreditation in the remote and urban settings. GPNNT will continue to provide resources to increase GP access to GP health information, supports and networks available to support them in managing their own health needs. Overall, we will continue to strengthen the organisation's role as a key stakeholder and advocate for GP's issues at the national, territory and local level.
