GP Grants
General Practice Network NT (GPNNT) is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing to attract, recruit and retain GPs to the Northern Territory. There are a number of grants that GPNNT can offer, to support the attraction and retention of GPs. Follow the links below to find out more about our grants.

Eligibility
To be eligible for GPNNT Grants a GP must:
- Be registered as a medical practitioner under the laws of an Australian state or territory and be eligible for registration in the Northern Territory (NT).
- Have a contract of employment or agreement with a Northern Territory sponsor/employer for a minimum of one year.
- Have a contract or commitment to work at least 5 sessions a week.
- Apply prior to or within two months of taking up a position.
- If a Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) registrar, expect to obtain vocational registration within 6 months of applying.
- Be committed to undertaking orientation and if necessary any additional training required to address the needs of the community.
- Be relocating to an advertised or nominated position of need in Rural, Remote and Metropolitan areas (RRMA) classification 3-7.
- Be able to establish the benefit to the community of any proposed training to be accessed through an GPNNT Orientation and Training Grant.
- Participate in other assessment processes as relevant.
- Excluded from accessing support grants are NT Department of Health & Families (NTDHF) and services in RRMA 1 locations.
