Member Services & Practice Support

Member Services and Practice Support

As the peak organisation representing general practice and primary health care across the Northern Territory, one of our major focuses is to provide many of the key services required by GPs and other health professionals to be an effective and proactive partner in the delivery of primary health care services across the NT.

This includes the provision and coordination of Continuing Professional Development to GPs and other primary healthcare team members, based on identified needs.

The Member Services area provides resources to increase GP access to GP health information, supports and networks available to support them in managing their own health needs. We support and encourage GPs, Practice Managers and Practices Nurses to engage in the Practice Principals’, Practice Managers’ and Practice Nurses’ networks.

GPs in the Northern Territory require more adequate access to urban locum support services. Similarly, rural/remote GP access to short-term locums. We will also continue to provide access for rural/remote GPs to workforce support funding to assist with GP retention and support for their families. We are also keen to provide further support to GPs towards increased awareness of and opportunity to attain practice accreditation in the remote and urban settings.

Overall, we will continue to strengthen the organisation’s role as a key stakeholder and advocate for GP's issues at the national, territory and local level.
